The raid was conducted at 12:00 noon. The police and mining officials stopped lorries loaded with sand and seized them. Currently, they are in the possession of the Konaje Police. S. F. Lohar, the sub inspector of Konaje Police Station, also participate in the operation.

DC Subodh Yadav later told reporters that an FIR will be registered against all the violators of sand mining laws. He said that the seized vehicles neither had number plates nor were fitted with GPS, which is mandatory for sand-transporting vehicles. He also said that the district administration will demolish the platform constructed to facilitate the movement of lorries to the river side, thus breaking up the racket.

Reportedly, those engaged in illegal sand mining knew that a raid would be conducted because most of the lorries meant for transporting illegally mined sand were parked. Illegal sand mining goes on at Adyar in spite of the presence of various officers.

Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the police will collect more information through the mobile phones, which have been seized from the lorry drivers. He also said that humps will be erected at all curves to stop lorries from moving from the areas, adding that the ring leader will soon be arrested according to the Goonda Act.
