Mangaluru, Sep 9,2015 : Reports of  frequent attacks on the doctor community, have caused DK DC Adoor B Ibrahim to consider their needs and control such assaults and put in place necessary action.


DC Ibrahim to look into assault on doctorsAt a workshop in KMC - Kasturba Medical Hospital,  DC Ibrahim advised the doctors to resolve problems rather than taking to the streets and staging protests.  he said, let us join hands and do good, seek a win win for both sides. 


Several demands to tackle repeated assaults from relatives of patients on doctors, he said that medical profession is sacred. Do not create service disruption, citing trivial reasons that can be easily solved. Protesting on streets is against professional ethics. 


DK DC Ibrahim said, advising the heads of medical institutions to approach him directly in case of assaults or any inconvenience caused to them.

On the exorbitant medical service fee charged by private hospitals/nursing homes, PI Sreevidya, chief executive officer (CEO), Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat warned them that if they fail to display the price list of various medical services prescribed under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, they will be subject to action. Dr G K Bhat Sankabithilu, president, Indian Medical Association (IMA) said that patients are under the impression that doctors loot them, but the reality is doctors spend lakhs of rupees on their education and choose the profession. They feel that   good return is their right too.
