Mangaluru, June 10, 2019: The administration in the coastal district is on alert following the Meteorological Department warning about a possible cyclone. Strong winds accompanied by heavy rains are likely in Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Lakshadweep. The depression in the Arabian Sea was likely to convert into a cyclonic storm in the next 36 hours, the Met Department has predicted.
The coastal region has been experiencing strong winds since Sunday. The wind speed is expected to increase to 40 to 55 km on Monday and 55 to 65 kms on Tuesday. The wind speed may even increase upto 90 to 100 kms per hour as the cyclone moves towards Gujarat coast, the Department has warned.
