Customer reveals ATM card details to fraudster; loses 70k

Bantwal: August 10, 2015: In a yet another case of fraud, a man was tricked by a fraudster into parting with the details of his ATM card, and has lost hefty sum of money from his bank account.

The complainant, Ravi Sornad, Resident of Padantakodi in Ajjibettu recieved a call from an unidentified man who said he is the manager of the bank. The man told Ravi that his card was blocked and sought the card number and pin to reactivate it.

Police said that Ravi got an SMS in few minutes later that revealed that Rs. 70,000 were withdrawn from his account.

Ravi filed a plea with the cyber crime cell, which confirmed that money has been withdrawn from his account fraudently.

A case has been registered. The police have taken up the investigation
