Mangaluru Feb 17, 2016 : A credit camp for financing roof-top Solar power plants was inaugurated by Prasad Rao, AGM of NABARD at a function held at Town Hall here on February 17, Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that installation of roof-top solar power plants would go a long way in conserving electricity in the best interests of the future generation. He also stressed the need to have such power plants wherever possible,
Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, in his address said there was a need to convert the entire district into a Solar District. He stated that the credit camp has received a positive response from the public. He also mentioned about the solar plant installed in his office.
MLC Ivan D’Souza who himself has installed a solar power plant in his residence spoke about the benefits of the same.
Manager of Lead Bank Raghav Yajamanya said a total of 12 banks and 15 suppliers are participating in the camp, Once the feasibility certificate is issued, the bank will sanction the loan. Suppliers will ensure insurance facility for the beneficiaries in case of damages and accidents, he added.
M Nanjappa, Executive Engineer of MESCOM and other Bank officials were present.
