Crack in BC Road flyover safety wall fixed

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, June 9: Three days back, a crack was observed in the safety wall of the newly constructed flyover at BC Road. Vehicles were permitted to use the flyover for the past two months to prevent traffic snarls and facilitate smooth flow of traffic in front of the bus stand.

The flyover is still crude and requires some more work. The surface is uneven and the gaps between concrete slabs have not yet been filled. Media reports spurred on the authorities concerned to get some of the work done on Monday. On Wednesday, the disturbing crack was fixed, but the public were put through a lot of inconvenience.

When the work was going on, there was a huge traffic snarl and vehicles from Mangalore, Puttur, Belthangady, and other places, including Police Interceptor Vehicles, ambulances, and marriage parties, were unable to proceed.

Local traders are afraid that things will turn dangerous during the monsoon.
