Court sentences a man causing death of a pedestrian

Mangaluru, July 25, 2016: The II JMFC Court, Mangaluru has sentenced an accused to one year imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 5,000 for causing the death of a pedestrian in an accident. 


Court 2The accused was Mohab Musthak Ahmed (25), originally from Bengaluru and residing at Kinnikambla in Mangaluru.


On June 22, 2015, Gulmi Yusuf Sab (58) was walking along highway at Kaikamba when a car driven by Musthak rammed into him. Yusuf succumbed at the hospital.



A case was registered at Bajpe police station for rash and negligent driving. However, activists feel that the quantum of sentence is lenient.
