On the other hand, the attachment of property did not affect the functioning of the AC office as all seized goods were handed back after a bond was signed.  Assistant Commissioner Dr Ashok said as soon as the government fund towards compensation was released the amount would be deposited in the court.

The case:  A 4.5 acre farm land belonging to Christina D’Souza at Adyapady in Bajpe was acquired in 2005 for the airport expansion works. Though the government was supposed to pay a compensation of Rs 59 lakhs to the family, only Rs 13 lakhs was sanctioned in 2005 apart from provision of 12 cents land in Bajpe for construction of a house to the family.

The land owner had even moved he court seeking a compensation of Rs 46 lakhs but of no avail as no measure was taken by the authorities to sanction the pending compensation.

Following this, the court had ordered attachment of the property of the AC office.
