Corporation Bank bags ten awards from NABARD

Mangaluru, March 2, 2016: Corporation Bank bagged ten awards from NABARD for ‘Best Performance under Self Help Group (SHG)/Joint Liability Group (JLG) Bank Linkage Programme’ in Karnataka state. Jai Kumar Garg, MD & CEO of the Bank received the Awards from Eugene E Karthak, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Bengaluru at the State Level Awards Programme held at NABARD Regional Office, Bengaluru on 2nd March, 2016.

The Bank has been adjudged first for the year 2013-14 in the following categories:
i. Overall performance under SHG – Bank Linkage programme.
ii. Highest share of SHG lending to Priority Sector Lending.
iii. Highest number of SHG’s Credit linked.
iv. Highest number of JLG’s Credit linked.
v. Highest number of SHG’s Credit linked by a branch.- Pandavapura Branch in Mysore Zone.
vi. Highest average JLG loan size.

The Bank has also been ranked first for the year 2014-15 under
i. Highest number of SHG’s credit linked.
ii. Highest quantum of loan disbursed. The Bank stood second under ‘Highest quantum of loan outstanding’ and third under ‘Highest number of JLG’s Credit Linked’.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Garg said, “concept of SHG is in our Bank since inception when our Founder Shri Haji Abdulla joined with like-minded people and started the Bank under nidhi model with a capital of 38 rupees 13 annas & 2 pies and now we have grown to over Rs.3.45 lakh crores. We will continue to excel in this area to help the weaker sections of the society and provide institutional credit to all.”
