Cops nab one person for robbing Keralite near railway station

robbery in Mangalore railway stationMangalore, Oct 26, 2014: The city police  have arrested a 19 year old youth on the charges of abducting and looting a man from Kottayam  in August.The arrested person is Santosh Kumar D’Silva  from Jeppu.

The incident had taken place on August 27 when N Sajan who hailed from Kottayam was heading to the railway station to catch a train. A Maruti Omni which passed that way and had five men inside forcibly pulled Sajan inside the vehicle, took him to an under construction building where it robbed his laptop, gold ring  and also his ATM card using which a cash of Rs 27000 was later withdrawn. The arrested Santosh was learnt to have been driving the vehicle  which has now been seized by the police.

Sajan  had later written a letter to the Mangalore Police Commissioner regarding the incident  following which an investigation was taken up.

It is learnt, the police noticed the Maruti Omni near the railway station and signalled it to stop. However, when the car fled, they had to chase it to stop it and arrest Santosh. Police sources said  he has admitted  his crime. Search is on for the other accused in the case.
