Cops arrest polygamist for trying to cheat Shirva woman

Udupi, Nov 6, 2014:  Based on a complaint lodged by a woman from  near Shirva, the police have arrested  a man from Mundagoda in Uttara Kannada on the charges of  trying to cheat her with a promise to marry.

The arrest was made on November 5, Wednesday and the accused has been identified as Ravi Shankerappa Naik (30).

It has been gathered that he had befriended Shashikala (30) and had taken  her to his hometown Mundagoda when the latter came to know that he was already married. The woman even saw the man have a quarrel with his second wife  following which she lodged a complaint with Shirva police.

 

The accused was arrested near Attinje. He is said to be a mason by profession  and had a total of five children including three from his first wife and two from his second wife. Sources said he had deserted his first wife.
