Cops arrest father of new-born which was thrown into river by grandmother

 Kasargod, Dec 30, 2014 : A youth  has been arrested under the POSCO Act  in connection with the recent case wherein a newborn was killed by throwing it into a river, reportedly by its grandmother.

The arrested youth is Suresh (25), suspected to be the father of the baby. Even the grandmother Seetha who had dumped the baby in the river has been arrested.

It is learnt the physical relationship between Seetha’s 16 year old daughter and the youth resulted in the birth of the  baby which was discarded  by Seetha in the river at Uppala on December 26, Friday night. Locals who noticed this, informed the police leading to the arrest of Seetha.

It is learnt the child was delivered at a hospital in Kumble and was killed four days after it was born. As the girl was a minor the hospital authorities had asked the family to lodge a police complaint. However instead the family got the girl discharged in haste and dumped the baby in the river. The body of the baby was later recovered.

Investigations are underway.
