Convention on ’Sharia Law’ put off due to Section 144

Mangaluru, Nov 14, 2016 : Mohammad Masood, President of Muslim Central Committee has said that a convention on Sharia Law which was proposed to be held at Nehru Maidan on November 15 has been put off due to the prohibitory orders under Section 144 imposed in Mangaluru by the City Police Commissioner.

 

Speaking to reporters in the city, Masood said as many as 50,000 people  from DK and Udupi districts and nearly 30 organisations were  supposed to attend the convention.

He questioned the  Police Department orders of imposing Section 144  in Mangaluru when untoward incidents were reported in Ullal and Konaje areas.

He also said that  the Police have no answer when asked why the prohibitory orders were imposed in Mangaluru.
