Mangalore, oct 2, 2014:  Several Congressmen who had gathered in front of the Gandhi Statue outside Town Hall premises on October 2 Gandhi Jayanthi day to pay tributes to the Father of the Nation who is also known as a Messenger of Peace, literally failed to maintain peace owing to some internal squabble.

Congress leaders including JR Lobo, MLA, Ivan D’Souza, MLC, Ibrahim Kodijal, Interim President of District Congress and Mithun Rai, District Youth Congress President had gathered at the venue.

It all began when Ibrahim Kodijal began to speak after leaders garlanded the statue of the Mahatma. In his address, he stressed the need for party men to maintain discipline in true adherence to the ideals of the Mahatma. His speech only invited the ire of some of those present mainly because, it has been gathered that the very same leader had  failed to display discipline at the airport during the arrival of the Chief Minister on October 1, Wednesday only because he was not given a pass to enter the airport. Ibrahim had literally
picked up a quarrel with the MLA that too right in the presence of the
CM.

However, on Thursday when he began to give lessons on discipline to party men it irritated many who even reportedly questioned  whether he had any moral  responsibility to say so.

Sources said this led to a lot of mud-slinging  and finally some
leaders had to intervene to pacify the warring party men.
