The ruling party corporators raised voice against the Commissioner saying that she has not been extending due respect to the elected representatives and heeding any requests of the ward members.

But, sources say that most of the corporators felt uneasiness under changed bureaucratic set up and the IAS lady’s adherence to rule book and complying procedures in sanctioning any work and sundry.   After, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati took charge of Commissioner she decentralised and tried channelize the functioning of the urban governing as required under law. Hitherto, files were directly sent to the commissioner for accord by the case worker of the concerned corporater.

Ramanatha Rai invited some senior leader including former mayor Mahabala Marla and others and discussed the matter. Rai was in Mangalore Circuite house on Friday April 10, 2015 for discussing the matter of construction new office building for District Congress Committtee, which was pending for long time.  Ramanath Rai also met for Chief Minister and former Union minister M.Veerappa Moily along with MLC Ivan D Souza, MLA JR Lobo, Moideen Bava and others.

Mayor Jacinta Alfred and Deputy Mayor Purushothama Chitrapura were also present in the meeting.
A section of the congressman demanded immediate transfer of the commissioner which will be unlikely to happen because minister nods in affirmative in the meeting.

A section of the corporators opine that nothing wrong in style of functioning of the present commissioner. If elected members are willing to follow the rules and with little bit of leadership quality and communication skill enough in dealing with the officers.
