Congress will implement mining report recommendations if voted to power: Moily

Mangalore, Apr 19, 2013: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily  has said that the Congress if elected to power was committed to implement the recommendations made in the mining scam report  submitted by former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde.


Addressing press persons at the party’s election campaign office here on April 19, Friday,  Moily took the BJP government to task for failing to implement the report till date.

He said the corruptions and scandals that rocked the state during the BJP tenure has tainted the image of the state for ever.  Moily lashed out at the state government  for its inefficiency in handling the power crisis situation and  said the government which had promised to make an addition of 10,000 MW power generation, has failed to open even a single unit. He was also critical of  some of the decisions  taken by the government in the educational sector and added  some of the institutions  which have been granted deemed university do not even proper first grade college.


He said the multiple sources of gas supplies will ensure that Mangalore was self-sufficient in power.  He said the gas pipeline between Ratnagiri and Bangalore will be diverted via Chitradurga and brought to Mangalore very soon. An L&G terminal will also come up soon and gas will be supplied from Mozambique, he informed.
