Congress to organize yatra to spread awareness on moral policing

Mangalore, Aug 10, 2012: The DK District Congress will organize a Shanthi Yatra from the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, located near Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) to the DC’s office on August 13, Monday at 4:00 p.m. 


Making the above announcement at a press meet held in the office of the district Congress on August 10, Friday, Ramanath Rai, MLA of Bantwal said that the purpose of this yatra is to create awareness among the public and the government on illegal acts of moral policing in the district.

Stating that moral policing is on the rise in Mangalore, he said that the RSS is behind the recent home stay attack by members of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike. 


Criticizing Jagadish Karanth, HJV chief, he said that although he is trying to wash his hands off the situation by claiming that the men involved in the attack are not members of the HJV, people have seen HJV members assaulting the revelers on TV in the name of protecting Indian culture. 


Congress workers and leaders Praveenchandra Alva, Mithun Rai, Sadashiva Ullal, P. V. Mohan, Chethan Kumar, Umesh Devadiga, and T. K. Sudhir were also present.
