Mangaluru, Jan 03, 2019: Senior Congress leader and former minister B Ramanatha Rai has said that a Padayatra has been organised by the DK District Congress from Nelyady to BC Road from January 14 to 16 demanding steps to resume the works on the Addahole-BC Road stretch on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters at the Party Office here on January 3, Thursday he said several party leaders will take part in the Padayatra.
On January 14, the Padayatra will proceed from Nelyady to Uppinangady. Next day it will proceed till Maani and on the third day upto BC Road. The Padayatra is organised with the theme ’Heddari Poornagolisi, Janara Praana Ulisi’ ( Complete Highway Works, Save Lives). Public meetings will be held on all the three days, he added
Rai said the L&T which was awarded contract for rhe second phase works has suspended works following the failure of the NHAI to release funds. NHAI owes crores of rupees to the contract company, he said.
When asked his opinion about the Sabarimala row, Rai refused to comment but said he had visited Sabarimala as a Ayyappa Vrithadhari over 18 times. He said he will not resort to politics on this issue.
