Congress leader Ashraf likely to defect to JD(S)

Mangaluru, Jan 28, 2018: Senior Congressman, former mayor and Congress Minorities Cell Vice President K Ashraf is reportedly planning to sever ties with the Congress and join the JD(S). He has already held consultations in this regard during the recent visit of Party supremo HD Devegowda and other leaders to the city.


Ashraff to join congress


Sources says Ashraf has placed forth certain demands to join the JD(S), one being  that he should be fielded as the party candidate from Mangaluru South Constituency.  He is all likely to join the JD(S) if his demands are heeded.

Speaking to a media, Ashraf has stated that he was pained by the attitude of a few Congress leaders in the recent past.  He alleged that those who have been serving the party since long are being sidelined while  newcomers are getting more priority.

As Ashraf has a significant following in the Congress and  he being the President of  Federation of Muslim Organisations his defection to the JD(S) is likely to have  some impact on  the Congress.
