Speaking to reporters at the Congress Office here on March 16, Monday, Poojary said the Congress was not afraid of such acts of the government.

Commenting on the recent budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the senior Congress leader  showered praises on the CM for presenting a good budget  which takes care of the interests of all sections of the  society.

He said  Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by announcing offering of 25 kg free rice to the poor has  done what no other CM has done so far  and added that the measure would go a long way in achieving ‘Garibi Hatao’ a call given by late prime minister Indira Gandhi.

Poojary also expressed pleasure over allocation of Rs 16,200 crore in the state budget for primary and high school education. This is the highest amount allotted to education, he said.

The Congress leader also suggested a  separate department to deal with corruption as done by the Kejriwal led Delhi Government and  called upon  people  to be watchdogs against corruption  by trapping officials involved in corruption by clicking their photos and sending them to the government.

On the Hindu Samajotsava held recently and the participation by some Congress leaders,  Poojary without naming Vijaynath Shetty who took part said “ Some party members  who stated  religion was higher than party for them had taken part in the programme.’

As usual he was critical of Samajotsavas and said Hinduism advocates peace and harmony but not hatred.

Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Congress leaders Vijaykumar Shetty and others were present at the press meet.
