Mangaluru, Dec 6, 2015 : Even as the Congress is gearing up for the upcoming election to the Legislative Council from local bodies to be held on December 27,  the party is struggling hard to cope with rebellion with many party men deciding to contest as independent candidates.

JP HegdeIf the party has chosen to field sitting MLC Pratapchandra Shetty in undivided Dakshina Kannada-Udupi constituency, other aspirants namely  former MP Jayaprakash Hegde and District Congress General Secretary Harikrishna Bantwal and another leader Bhujanga Shetty  from Brahmavar who have been denied tickets have already stated that they will be filing nomination as rebel candidates.

Jayaprakash Hegde even questions the party’s decision to field Pratapchandra Shetty, who had earlier in letters addressed to the electorate had  revealed his disinterest in contesting the MLC polls.

The rebellion is not confined to Dakshina Kannada alone, but is also evident in Bengaluru urban constituency. In Bellary too there is some resentment over the party’s choice of candidate. On the other hand, in Kolar, former union ministers Veerappa Moily and KH Muniyappa too are  leaving no stone unturned in getting tickets for their followers.
