Congress delegation meets Covid-19 Nodal Officer ; highlights citizens’ woes during lockdown

Mangaluru, March 31, 2020:   A delegation  of Congress leaders met DK District in-charge Secretary and District Nodal Officer for Covid-19 Control, Ponnuraj at the  Circuit House in the city on March 31, Tuesday and submitted a memorandum  seeking solution to the problems confronting the citizens during purchase of groceries amid lockdown.

It  was but natural for people to rush to grocery stores to buy essentials after  three to four days of complete shutdown, the  memorandum pointed out. At the same time, the memorandum brought to the notice of the officer the fact that most shops do not have enough stock of essential commodities and  that measures have  also not been taken to replenish the stocks. The Congress leaders urged the officer to ensure that shops are kept opens at least four hours  every day so that people can buy essentials. The party leaders also said they were in complete favour of stern action against  lockdown violators.

The delegation that met the District in-charge Secretary included MLC Ivan D’Souza, Corporators  Shashidhar Hegde, Naveen D’Souza  and Abdurravoof.
