Mangaluru, Apr 28, 2018: The Narendra Modi government at the Centre has looted the common man of Rs 10 lakh crore during the last four years by increasing central excise duty on fuel as many as 12 times, alleged former union minister Pradeep Jain.
Addressing a press meet at the District Congress Office on April 28, Saturday, he said the Centre has also looted the public money through demonetisation and demanded a white paper on fuel price hike.
Continuing, he said Union Minister Smriti Irani who had sat on a protest at Jantar Mantar during the UPA rule alleging that the LPG price has been hiked, was now silent.
Having a praise for the administration of the Siddaramaiah Government in the state, he said even the Niti Ayog CEO had hailed the development of Karnataka while addressing MPs recently.
Deepa Dasmunshi, former union minister of state for urban development, who also spoke referred to the BJP dubbing the Congress manifesto as garbage initially and later on changing its stance and saying it was a copy of the Centre’s schemes. In that case are the Central schemes garbage, she questioned
The BJP leaders are known for their frequently changing statements just as they have changed the names of the schemes initiated by the previous UPA rule, she added.
Youth Congress leader Jaiveer Shergil also spoke.
