Cong begins search for candidates; observers elicit opinion from leaders

Mangaluru, Feb 10, 2019: The Congress has begun efforts to find suitable candidates to be fielded from the prestigious Dakshina Kannada, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru and Uttara Kannada constituencies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. AICC Secretaries and Karnataka in-charge leaders of Congress party namely P C Vishnunath, Manikyam Thakur and Madhu Yakshi Gowda elicited opinion from various party leaders and presidents of various units of the party at the District Congress office here on Saturday.

As many as 92 leaders shared their opinion with the AICC observers on the occasion. Former minister B Ramanatha Rai, Rajya Sabha Member B K Hariprasad, MLC and Parliamentary Secretary  Ivan D’Souza,  former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, Sullia Congress leader Dhananjaya Adpangaya, ZP member and former ZP Chief Mamatha Gatti and others  have reportedly sought candidature for the elections.

Former minister Vinaykumar Sorake and former MLA Pramod Madhwaraj have expressed their keenness to contest from Udupi. The name of Dr Arathi Krishna, former vice president of NRI Kannadigas Forum and Chikkamagaluru Congress Chief Vijay Kumar were also heard.
