Conduct scientific study on Yettinahole project: D Veerendra Heggade

Mangaluru: September 24, 2015: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said he has been emphasizing for a scientific study on utilization water from the Nethravati River, which is the lifeline of Dakshina Kannada district.

 

"Utilisation of Nethravati river water has been a subject of debate. We have decided during the Vishwa Tulu Sammelan held in 2009 that a scientific study should be conducted before lifting water from Nethravati to other districts.," he stated in a release.

"There has been a lack of information on this project. My opinion is that people of coastal district and those in parched districts should be given proper information on the use of Nethravati river water and a scientific study should also be conducted," he said. "People of Chikkaballapura and Doddaballapura sought my cooperation during a tour to that region. I told them that there should be sufficient care so that people of DK don’t suffer," he said."My stand is that more emphasis needs to be given to safeguard the interests of people of our district," he said.
