Mangalore, November 10: DK distrcit Deputy Commissioner Subhod Yadav has urged the National Highway Authority to complete the national highway widening work, which is under progress in the district, within stipulated time.

Speaking at a coordination committee meeting here in the city, DC Yadav called upon the authorities concerned to solve various problems faced by the people at the time of Road widening, as the families resideng along the National Hiway loose their property.


He said that if everything happens according to the plan of NHAI, the work of road widening will complete on time. He also sought cooperation from National Highways Authority of India, National Highways city Corporation as well as MESCOM to complete the project in a stipulated time.


NHAI Project director Prashanth Gavasane said that the four- laning work between Surthkal- B C Road should have been completed by December 2007. A sum of Rs 61 crore has been disbursed as compensation so far.


Gavasane said that under Phase II, the road between Nanthoor-Thalapady will be developed and preliminary notices have been issued to seven villages for land acquisition, through which the road passes. Two flyovers will be built at Pumpwell and Thokkottu while the widening the road between Nanthoor-Talapady.


Funds have already been paid for works like utility shifting, electrical Shifting, Chopping of trees etc. between Mulky and Kuloor. The work on pending flyover in Surathkal will be completed at the earliest after the PWD settles valuation work of a building near the flyover.
