Compensation to Sundara Malekudiya released by DC

Mangaluru, Aug 2, 2015 :   DK DC Adoor Ibrahim Aug 1, directed the Social Welfare Department to pay Rs. 80,000 as a part compensation to Sundara Malekudiya, resident of Kataje village in Belthangady taluk, who was allegedly attacked by Gopala Gowda on July 26.


Compensation to Sundara Malekudiya released by DC 1  The DC also visited  Sundara, who is undergoing treatment for the severed fingers of his right arm and his badly damaged left arm, at Wenlock Govt hospital.

The compensation is being paid under the Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes people.

Since the FIR was registered with the Belthangady police, a cheque for Rs. 80,000, amounting to 25 per cent of the total compensation, has to be handed over to the Belthangady tahsildar for disbursal to Sundara, the DC said. An official release, quoting the FIR, said that the accused Gopala Gowda allegedly attempted to murder  Sundara with a weed clearing machine, in the process the victim was severely injured.


The accused allegedly attacked Sundara with regard to dispute over a three-acre land to which the latter was given the right of cultivation by the Forest Department, the release said. While the accused’s sister Pushpalatha has been arrested by the police, Gopala Gowda and his other sister Damayanthi, are still at large. All the three were present when  Sundara was allegedly attacked it is FIR said.
