Mangaluru, Jan 15, 2016: Acting on a tip off that under trials possessed dangerous weapons in the District Prison in Mangaluru, the city Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar along with DCPs, ACPs and other police personnel numbering nearly 150 raided the prison and seized several mobile phones as well as ganja among other things. Weapons were however not found during the raid. Even canine squads were in action during the raid.
It has been gathered that the raiding team seized 12 mobile phones, five mobile batteries, three SIM cards, two chargers and a screw driver from the under trials. Four packets of ganja weighing nearly 10 grams were also seized.
Police sources informed that the under trials from whom the cell phones, drugs and other items have been seized have been shifted to different cells.
Sanjeev Patil, Shantharaju, DCPs, four ACPs, ten inspectors, six SIs and two platoons of KSRP were part of the raiding team
