Collision between 2 buses at Udyavar ; 1 dead, 10 injured

Udupi, Feb 8, 2015: A youth was killed and as many as ten persons were injured  in a collision between an express bus and a mini bus on the National Highway at Udyavar on February 8, Sunday.

 

The deceased person is Santosh Nandalike (27). He is said to be an electrician and was travelling in the mini bus which was heading from Belman to Kemmannu as part of a trip. There were 25 persons in the mini bus.

The express bus was heading towards Udupi from Mangaluru while even the mini bus was proceeding in the same direction. It is said unhealthy competition and overtaking led to the tragedy wherein the express  bus hit the mini bus from the rear, in turn  overturning it resulting in the death of Santosh on the spot.

The condition of three of the injured is said to be serious. The accident disrupted traffic on the highway for a couple of hours.
