Collection of donation for Chennai not to be done - DK DC

Mangaluru, Dec 07, 2015: DK DC Adoor B Ibrahim stated that no individual or organisations in Dakshina Kannada district can collect donation for the flood-hit people in Chennai.   It has come to the notice of the district administration that a few organisations and individuals have launched an initiative to collect donations which is to be discontinued.

 

IbrahimClarification : The Tamil Nadu government has made it clear that it does not require any donation or materials from other states.  If anybody, who is a native of Karnataka and living in Chennai requires assistance, then their relatives or friends can contact 1077 or 080-22340676.

Red Cross Society lends a helping hand

Three-member team from City unit of the Indian Red Cross Society has left for Chennai with medicines worth Rs 40,000 and blankets to help the flood-hit people, said a press release issued by IRCS (Dakshina Kannada unit) Disaster Management Sub Committee President Venu Sharma.

The team comprises Raveendranath and Sacheth Suvarna from Mangaluru and Dr Kumar from Shivamogga.

Sharma has requested the members of the public to donate candles as there is an acute shortage of candles in Chennai. The candles will be transported to Chennai. Those interested may send the candles to IRCS Blood Bank located at the Government Lady Goschen hospital.
