Collect information on tourists staying in lodges: Udupi DC G Jagadeesh

Udupi, March 19, 2020:  Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said that officials have been directed not to leave the district headquarters without the prior permission from him, the superintendent of police and Zilla Panchayat CEO in the wake of coronavirus crisis.

He was chairing a meeting on Covid-19 control at his office on Tuesday.

The deputy commissioner directed the officials of urban local bodies and Taluk Panchayat executive officers to collect information on tourists staying in lodges in urban and rural areas. The details should include new owners residing in apartments, he added.

He warned of initiating strict action against those responsible for creating artificial shortage of masks in the district. All private hospitals and taluk government hospitals should reserve two beds for the treatment of suspected patients, he said.

Private doctors, private hospitals and nursing homes should inform the department of health and family welfare officials on patients with the symptoms of Covid-19, he urged.

The lockdown of theatres and multiplexes will continue. The vegetable wing of Big Bazar, grocery unit of City Centre, the gas agency on the ground floor of the city centre can remain open for public in Udupi, he said.

The deputy commissioner urged marriage hall owners to cancel bookings made for conducting marriages and other programmes.
