Coast Guard urges youth to test new waters

Mangaluru, Aug 01, 2018: The Generation Next in the three Coastal Districts of Karnataka are intellectually prepared for exploring the new horizons and ready to take their dreams beyond the horizons. The youth of coastal districts of Karnataka are full of determination and self-confidence, with dreams in their eyes for the national build-up.

To harness the youth energy Indian Coast Guard with its state Headquarters at New Mangalore for the state of Karnataka steered the drive ‘GeNext for the National Defence”, aimed at engagement with GeNext as career in the National Defence for Safer Seas and Safer Coasts.

The drive was launched by deputing a dedicated team to Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mangalore on 30 Jul 2018. The team was comprised of four officers including one-woman officer Asst Comdt Devyani Saraf to professional college for doing some self-talk within young minds to join the fine service of ours. The team was having two commanding officers who are chartering Coast Guard duties in providing safe coasts and safer seas to seafarers in the coast of Karnataka namely Comdt K Mulye and S Roy, commanding Indian Coast Guard Ships Amartya and Kasturba Gandhi based at New Mangalore. Asst Comdt Vaibhav Mishra represented young GeNext of Coast Guard to the gatherings. The interactive session was also attended by Shri Vivek M Alva, Managing Trustee and Brigadier N Ravindran (Retd), Professor Mechanical Department from the Alva Educational Foundation.

Deputy Inspector General SS Dasila, TM, Commander Coast Guard Karnataka reiterated that the Indian Coast Guard is a fine multi facet Maritime Service in its own providing a full spectrum of adventure in surfing the seas even in overseas with physical and moral courage. He also said that youth of today can embrace Coast Guard Service for serving the nation with self-respect, honour and dignity.
