Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association visit Vathsalyadham Old Age Home

Mangaluru, Apr 26, 2018: Coast Guard Karnataka Team along with members of Tatrakshika (A self-help group of Indian Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association) visited Vathsalyadham  Old Age Home, Mangalore on 26 April 2018.

Vathsalyadham Qld Age Home has 40 elderly inmates who are staying away from their families and children. Shri Shreenath Hegde is the care-taker of the home. The visit of Coast Guard team was aimed at providing them comfort by interacting, caring and basic amenities as gesture of humanitarian act.


The inmates were given ration, food, fruits, clothes, slippers and toiletries. More importantly, a feeling of bondage, affection and caring was shared with the elderly people. They were touched by the caring attitude of the Coast Guard team.


Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Inspector General SS Dasila, TM, the Commander, Coast Guard Karnataka stated, “Who says that childhood doesn’t return, one should sit near to his mother and the childhood is felt again. The elderly people remind us of our parents”. The Commander also stated that the helping hand extended by the team should be continued in the future as well.
