Mangaluru, Sep 11 2019 : Consequent upon the implementation of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment ) Act, the traffic police in Commissionerate limits have registered 1,635 cases in three days and have collected a penalty of Rs 3,92,800.
Informing this to media persons, City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha said the city police have launched a crackdown on traffic rule offenders since September 7. He said the highest violations-476 cases were reported in Mangaluru North Traffic Division which collected a fine amount of Rs 1,09,500 while East Traffic Station registered 430 cases and levied a penalty of Rs 1, 24,500.
The South Traffic station registered 373 cases and imposed a penalty of Rs 71,900, While West Traffic Station registered 356 cases and collected penalty of Rs 86,900.
The highest cases are pertaining to not wearing helmet, seat belts and jumping signal.
