Mangaluru, Sep 22, 2015: Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim has informed that a special meeting would be soon convened to discuss various aspects pertaining to major works in the city including construction of footpaths and drainages. He has also stated that all prominent roads in teh city will have footpaths and drainages within the next three months.
The DC also stated that the government has approved works costing Rs 24.64 crore towards footpaths and drainages on ten roads. At the same time, he informed that none have responded to the tenders called for by the MCC several times. The ensuing meeting would discuss calling tenders on piece work basis, he added.
The DC also informed the meeting that the renovated Town Hall will be ready for use on November. He even stated that the government has approved sanction of Rs 92 lakh for CCTV, LED screen, generator room and other works.
Steps would also be taken to improve facilities at the MCC swimming pool and added mosaic tiles will be laid around the pool and new toilets would also be constructed. The total budget estimate is Rs 40 lakhs, he added.
