Mangaluru, Feb 14, 2018: The city’s historic Saint Anthony’s Shrine Mangalore will celebrate feast in honour of Saint Anthony’s relic, February 15 at Milagres Church grounds at 6 pm. Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza the Bishop of Mangalore will celebrate the festive mass. A large number of priests and over five thousand devotees are expected for in the celebration.
The programme of the day starts in the morning, at 8.15 am a Holy Mass will be offered by Very Rev. Fr Pius D’Souza (O.C.D.) at Milagres Church. Similarly a Holy Mass will be offered at Milagres Church at 4.30 pm in Malayalam. Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal of Calicut Diocese will offer the Mass. Rt. Rev. Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu the Vicar General of Diocese will offer a Holy Mass at 11 am at St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu for the inmates and the special invitees.
Though it is eight centuries now since the death of Saint the tongue and the vocal chords of the Saint have still remained fresh. The Relic is preserved at the Basilica dedicated to the Saint at Padua in Italy. The formal devotion to Saint in Mangalore will complete 120 years in the month of June of this years. Over the last 120 years people irrespective caste and creed have approached Saint Anthony in their need and they have experienced the power of unfailing powerful intercession of Saint Anthony. Fr Onil D’Souza along with Ashram Fathers and the organizers has extended a hearty welcome to one and all to come and participate in the celebration and pray for God’s blessings.
