City police commissioner warns, Bandh illegal

Mangaluru, May 28, 2018: As per High Court and Supreme Court judgements, a bandh cannot be observed under any pretext and a call for the same is illegal, said City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar.


Vipul Kumar 2“Any appeal for bandh would be subject to legal action. If anyone is asked to participate in bandh, he/she can intimate the local police officers or dial 100,” he stated.

BJP support  :  The BJP Dakshina Kannada district president Sanjeev Matandoor said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had promised that farm loans to the tune of Rs 53,000 crore would be waived within 24 hours of coming to power, but has failed to do so. Matandoor has appealed to the citizens to support the bandh. .

In Udupi, BJP will organise a protest rally to mark the state-wide protest by farmers. The rally will be from Jodukatte to the service bus stop, followed by a meeting, calling for immediate measures to waive farmers’ loans.

BJP leader Mattar Ratnakar Hegde and MLA Raghupathy Bhat will participate in the rally. The Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat and gram panchayat members will also take part in large numbers.


Speaking to media MP Shobha Karandlaje said that Kumaraswamy has failed to fulfil the assurance given to farmers.   She added that the BJP is supporting the farmers’ protest called in the state. The chief minister should clarify his stand concerning the farmers’ loan and their situation.
