Daily, almost 360 city buses ply to various locations from the city. The trips begin from 6 am in the morning till 10:20 pm in the evening and in a day do 8 trips. These buses are used by a lakh of people daily of which almost 25% are students who are dependent on the city buses. Hence, it is vital to maintain cleanliness within the buses.

One citizen activist said that Yes, it’s a thoughtful and good move, will teach us good habits to drop any thrash and not throw it overboard.  Yet, it will not control a very dirty and unhealthy habit, frequently encountered and pointed out,,,SPITTING....from moving and stationary buses/vehicles..... Requests, that RTO arrange to place notices that "Spitting from Bus is a crime" only has fallen on deaf ears.  Don’t think people will be allowed to spit in the on board waste bins. The authorities must have a board in all buses, it will at least support the conscientious objectors and bring better discipline.

When the bus is in transit, a few passengers have the tendency to dispose of the bus ticket, chocolate wrappers, fruit skin, snacks, paper, bottle and other things within the bus.Spitting is obnoxious habit frequently seen here. Because of this behavior, the other passengers in the bus have to face discomfort. Hence, in order to fairly avoid this and to maintain a clean bus, bus owners have come forward to install dustbins within their buses.
