City bus stops not restored, creating serious public hazard

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Dec 09, 2019:   There has been much talk on providing technically sound bus shelters in the city for long, but as of now many bus-stops removed during main road concreting even 2 3 years ago are not restored even basically .

The passengers waiting for buses are in a pathetic and hazardous situations and are often unsure where bus halts are. This also causes city buses to stop any where they like and traffic terror results.  Footpaths and shelters are built where it is not essential and  many needy spots are grossly neglected. The priority of our leaders and officials is devoid of reasoning.

Take a look at the 2 stops at Kankanady, one  opposite the Fr.Muller’s Hospital gate and one opposite the St.Joseph school - see  picture.

There are many bus routes towards Bendur/Balmatta/State Bank and so on that have to stop at these two bus stops. Students,  sick and elderly are always waiting at such stops for buses, but there is not even a semblance of shelter.  Sun and rain constantly trouble the hapless users since long and several have pointed out this urgent need. Also, a slight error by oncoming vehicles will create havoc as is often seen these days.   But, the concerned authorities do not act on reasonable enlightened  demands yet. Kindly do look into common  peoples’ genuine simple problems, needs  and where safety in compromised, immediately.
