Mangaluru, Oct 09, 2016: KCCI,  Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is set to put in all efforts make out all efforts to promote the Smart City Project and showcase the city, inviting Investors to invest in the smart city, in order to make it a success. KCCI, which will be part of the special purpose vehicle that will be set up to implement the project, will be proactive in participating in this project for its proper execution, noted Jeevan Saldanha, who took over as KCCI chief recently.

KCCI President Jeevan Saldanha said the city has made it to second list of smart cities and is a landmark event for the City. KCCI has been active in developing the proposal for the Smart City Project. Being strategically located, with excellent connectivity by sea, air and road and being located on the mid-point of the Western Coast, Mangaluru, which is known as a clean and green City has not been able to retain its well-educated and talented youth, he said.

With advent of Smart City, local youth will have more opportunities to begin new ventures, startups and other entrepreneurial openings and thereby create new job opportunities. This could well provide the impetus to prevent youngsters from the city from leaving to greener pastures and in turn may help the housing market, restaurants, retail and local businesses, and thereby contribute to the overall economic development of the city, he noted.

The chamber will also strive to improve the traffic sense of the people, especially the wrong use of one way and other traffic violations that result in accidents and loss of life. In this regard, the chamber will be having an interaction with the city police commissioner M Chandra Sekhar on the issues and concerns of traffic and law and order on October 19 at the KCCI. "This will give us an opportunity to place before him our solutions pertaining to the issue," he said.

The chamber will also have an interaction with the DK deputy commissioner  Dr K G Jgadeesha.
