City "Flyovers in three months" firm promises Minister

The firm it is said convinced the minister that flyovers at Pumpwell and Thokkottu on National Highway 66 will be completed within three months after the rains end.

At a meeting convened by union minister Gadkari to discuss infrastructure issues of Dakshina Kannada in New Delhi, a senior official from the company told the Minister that there would be no further delay in the execution of the project, including service roads wherever planned.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, who led a delegation of four MLAs from the district to the Minister, told media  that Minister  Gadkari also directed the National Highways Authority of India to hasten three proposed projects in the district.

They include four-laning of National Highway 169 between Mangaluru and Karkala; four-laning Mangaluru bypass road from Mulki to B.C. Road via Kateel and six-laning of B.C. Road-Surathkal stretch of NH 75 and 66 that was four-laned under Port Connectivity project. Minister Kateel said and directed officials concerned to call tenders for execution of all these projects at the earliest.

He also asked NHAI to send a team of experts to study rain damaged highways in the region and rectify efficiently as soon as possible.
