Citizens pour in grievances at Mayor’s phone-in

Mangaluru, Sep 26, 2017: Mayor Kavitha Sanil’s phone-in programme  on September 26, Tuesday witnessed a caller making an ardent appeal to  at least take some minimal measures to repair a kuchha road  in Jeppinamogaru which even pedestrians find it difficult to use. He suggested that   dug up bitumen prior to concretisation of any other road could be  used on the road in his area.

The mayor immediately responded to the caller Walter D’Souza from Jeppinamogaru  and  instructed officials to prepare an estimate for the bituminisation of the road within two days.

Another caller  Vincent Goveas from Maryhill said as many as 20 houses in his locality have not received water bills  since five months  and questioned what would be their plight if the corporation disconnects water connection considering them as defaulters.

To a suggestion by a citizen to repair  the service road near Bharath Motors, Kuntikan, the Mayor said an estimate of Rs 19 lakh has already been prepared for this road.

A lady from Shaktinagar complained of a cement godown in a residential area that has  created a dusty atmosphere. The mayor said the problem would be reviewed and the permit of the godown would be cancelled if necessary.

When  Rameez of Baikampady said there are no  bus shelters right from Kulur bridge till Suratkal, the Mayor said  bus shelters would come up under Smart City project. Even MCF proposed a bus shelter, she added.

Many other  grievances poured in during the phone-in to which the Mayor responded positively.

Shashidhar Hegde,  former mayor and  Abdul Ravoof, Standing Committee President, were also present.
