Children’s cultural organization Makkala Koota inaugurated

Mangalore, September 1, 2011: Makkala Koota, a sister concern of Balabharathi Academy, was inaugurated at Town Hall on Aug 31 Wednesday.

The members of Makkala Koota, all below the age of 17, presented a colorful cultural programme, the highlights of which were dance, flute play, and singing. Singa Singi Samsara, a moral play directed by K. V. Raman, was staged on the occasion.

S. Ganesha Rao, the president of Karavali Group, inaugurated Makkala Koota in a unique manner by lifting an idol of Lord Krishna from the cradle and presenting it to a member.

Geetha Nayak, the deputy mayor, released a karaoke music CD composed by the members. Vivek Alva, the managing trustee of Alva’s Education Foundation, released a CD Of shlokas for Bharatanatyam students.

MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik felicitated the talented children.

Harikrishna Punaroor, the former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad, presided over the event. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of DK Kannada Sahitya Parishad, delivered the vote of thanks.
