Childline’ awareness and linking programmes to launch on November 14

Mangaluru, Nov 14, 2014:  Addressing a press conference on November 13, Thursday, Childline Mangalore City Organiser Yogish Malligemadu said that District Juvenile Justice Board President Pateela Nagalinganagowda will inaugurate programmes at Balabhavana in Kadri on November 14. 


childline  As a part of ‘Childline Se Dosti,’ a national-level week-long campaign to bring general public closer to the childline and create awareness on children’s rights, planned by the Childline-1098, Childline Mangalore will organise various programmes in association with JCI Mangaluru and Big FM 92 at various places of the city from November 14 to 20.

SP Dr Sharanappa, Child Welfare Forum President Nikesh Shetty others will be present. It will be followed by the cultural programmes. Information will be given to Milagres, Capitanio, Padua, Nitte, St Anns and Badria PU college students on childline, children’s right and Pocso Act on November 15. Awareness will be created through Childline stall at Ullal beach.

Awareness programmes will be conducted at Bijapur colony and Panambur beach on November 16. On November 17, children will tie ‘Suraksha Bandhana’ to police staff and an interaction programme will be held. ‘Araluva Hoovugalu’ street play will be performed in railway station, KSRTC, Stat Bank, Vamanjoor Junction on November 19. A art exhibition on children’s right will also be held on the same day. Valedictory programme and cultural programmes are scheduled at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School Kasaba Bengre, on November 20, he said. Meanwhile, Childline (Padi) Director Renny D’Souza released the details of the activities of Mangalore Childline from March, 2013 to September, 2014. “We had received around 14,000 phone calls asking help last year and it seems that this year it will cross that mark. ‘Childline Se Dosti’ programme has helped to create awareness about the facility, but it is concerning that sexual harassment incidents are increasing. So this helpline needs more publicity,” he said.
