Taliking to media,  Suvarna said that the State government had cleared the proposal and sent it to the Union government.

A delegation had even visited the Union Minister for Agriculture Radhamohan Singh and also the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, Nitin Gadkari, to impress upon them the need for the fisheries harbour.

Except for getting assurances that the matter would be taken up, there had been no action.  Though this matter was brought to the notice of   Karandlaje several times, there was no movement on it.

The demand for a fisheries habour had been there for last 25 years.

Though a small jetty was constructed at Hejmady, about two decades back, it was of no use, because of its faulty location.
