Mangalore, Oct 28, 2014: Centenarian Robert Michael D’Souza had an interesting interactive session with the public and the media at the Ravindra Kala Bhavan of University College on October 27, Monday. Michael was in fact happy to interact with the public after an initial disappointment when his health condition made it unable for him to attend his 100th birthday celebration.
On this occasion Michael exhorted youngsters to always refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol. To a question about his good health and fitness at this age, Michael revealed his secret –A meal of rice and curds, occasional non-veg food and a peg of whisky at night.
He also confessed that till 85 he used to smoke a lit and then decided to give it up. He also recalled an incident when he had seen the greatest engineer of all times Sir M Visvesvaraya who had arrived to inspect Kannambady dam. Michael said he was working as a labourer there at that time.
He was proud to state that he can drive all models of cars including vintage and modern cars.
Satyanarayana, Principal of University College, wished Michael on his hitting a century. The centenarian was honoured on the occasion by several of his well-wishers including eminent rationalist Prof. Narendra Nayak.
