Mr Anil Lobo, President of the Sabha said the catholic community is standing in solidarity with all the other groups who are also protesting the murder and said he “expects the killers to be arrested.”

Fr. Matthew Vas, the Spiritual Director of the Mangalore Sabha strongly felt that these murders should not happen. “We are murdering our democracy. Everyone has to condemn this irrespective of caste or creed.” He also said that by holding such public protests,  the Sabha is creating an awareness about these heinous acts (the killing of media persons in general and Gauri Lankesh in particular).

Words of praise were heaped on the murdered journalist. The speakers were unanimous in stating that though Lankesh held very strong views about many ideologies, she was very fair in upholding democratic values of free thought and free speech.

Speakers on the dais included Mr. Mohd. Kunhi-Joint secretary JIH Karnataka, Mr. Deepak D’Souza-Catholic Sabha Secretary, Dionysius Vas- Rector of St Aloysius and Rev. William Menezes.
