Car catches fire at Mangalore Airport parking lot

Mangalore, Oct 30: A Tata Indica car caught fire at the parking bay close the International Airport Terminal in the evening on Thursday, October 30, 2014. 


The car bearing registration No. KA 03 ME 6237 belongs to M/s Sri Ventures was on its way to the Airport when it caught fire. The driver of the car, Raja Sheik ran out of the car saving his life. There was no other passenger in the car. The MIA fire force put off the fire within a short time.

The driver, Raja Sheik had come to the Airport to pick up the daughter of the car owner from the airport who was expected to arrive in the evening flight. 


The driver saw smoke emitting out of the bonnet and stopped the car on the road towards the parking bay. Fire broke out within seconds. The driver jumped out of the car saving his life.


There were a que of cars behind the car that caught fire. Fire service personals reached the spot in time and extinguished the fire avoiding a big calamity. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.


The Airport Authority has ordered an enquiry. The Airport police is investigating case.
