Canara Catholic Women’s convention to be held on March 4th

Mangaluru, Feb 11, 2018: Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh will organise a mega convention of Canara Catholic women at St Agnes Special School Grounds, Bendoor, Mangaluru on March 4, 2017.  Addressing reporters at the Bishop’s House in Mangaluru on Saturday, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh president Anil Lobo said that around 7,000 women from Mangaluru and Udupi will take part.

The objective of the convention is to unite the women of the community and deliberate on the subject of their empowerment and bring them into the mainstream to play a positive role in society.

Mangalore Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the programme. Ten women achievers of the society in various fields will be conferred the Catholic Sabha Stree Sadhan award.

NRI businessman Ronald Colaco, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, Legislative Council Government chief whip Ivan D’Souza and others will be the guests. KPCC secretary Veronica Cornelio will deliver the keynote address. ‘Streeyarigagi Sarakara’, a book on the government facilities meant for women, will be released on the occasion.

Anil Lobo added that an awareness rally on environment protection and cleanliness will be taken out from Kadri Mallikatta to the venue at 8.30 am on the same day.

All India Mahila Congress general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Janet D’Souza, Catholic Sabha general secretary Celestine D’Souza and Rachana association former secretary Ulalia D’Souza were present.
