Campaign against Yettinahole gathers steam

Mangaluru, Sep 10, 2015 :  Tuluva activists of DK  distributed handouts with 10 questions to the State government as part of their aggressive campaign against the Yettinahole diversion project at Belthnagady and Ujire Sept 9.

The activists under the banner of ’Sahyadri Sanchaya’ informed people about the implications of the project while distributing handouts.  D.B. Mehta, president, Mangaluru chapter of  CREDAI - Confederation of Real Estate and Developers Association of India, said that the association had not taken made any commitment on the issue. Presently the issue has been politicised, he said.

D B  Mehta said that Mangaluru should get round-the-clock water supply when it would be covered under the smart city scheme.  MCC - Mangaluru City Corporation had chosen a private company as a consultant for preparing a detailed project report for submitting to the government under the scheme.

If the consulting company made any specific reference in its report on the Nethravathi diversion or Yettinahole diversion that it would affect the city then the CREDAI would take it up with the government. At the same time he questioned if Nethravathi was diverted from where would the city get water.
